Balon Greyjoy Silver Stag Coin
Product Description
Balon Greyjoy, father of Theon and Asha, declared himself King of the Iron Islands during the War of the Five Kings. As an Iron Islander, Balon followed the Old Ways of taking property by force, so this coin was probably minted on top of old Aerys II Targaryen silver Stags that were stolen during a raid. The coin features a crowned Balon, claiming kingship, holding an axe and a great pearl, symbolizing his mastery over the sea. The reverse has the Kraken sigil of House Greyjoy. A Stag is worth 7 Stars, or 56 copper Pennies.
This Balon Greyjoy Silver Stag from the world of George R. R. Martin is struck from solid .999 silver, measures 2.1 cm in diameter, and weighs about 3.3 grams, or 1/10 of a troy ounce. Coin artwork by Joe Paonessa.
Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques.
